WATER HARVESTING
Access to fresh water is a problem in Lukenke Village and the entire sub-country. School Kids have to move a distance of 5 Kilometers to the water pool to fetch water for school and domestic use which affects their learning time. And therefore if they do not fetch water, they can not have meals and drinking water and as well water for their personal hygiene after visiting toilets.
This has threaten their lives due to outbreak of poor hygiene generated diseases like diarrhea among others. This can only be solved by providing a reliable water source at the school like constructing water tanks which are connected to garters on the roof to harvest rainwater. One tank costs 500 Euro, but due to the number of kids at the school two tanks are necessary.
CLASSROOM BUILDING
As the number of kids keeps increasing the need for more shelter increases as well whereby some kids due to lack of class rooms end up attending their classes under the sheds of the eucalyptus trees which is not reliable due to the changing weather conditions. Therefore we want to construct a class room block which has five classes with the capacity of 50 kids each class room. This will assure shelter for at least 200 kids for primary and nursery teaching.
This classroom block will cost 3.800 Euro in total. Any contribution is highly welcome towards this concern of providing conducive environment for learning.
SCHOLASTIC EQUIPMENT
This is the combination of all things all used in the classroom for effective learning and these include:
-100 desks (15 Euro per desk) = 1.500 Euro in total
-100 chairs (6,25 Euro per chair) = 625 Euro in total
-10 tables (22,50 Euro per table) = 225 Euro in total
-5 chalk boards (12,50 Euro per board) = 62,50 Euro in total
-5 book boards/shelves (18,75 Euro per board) = 93,75 Euro in total
-text books in total 250 Euro
-drawing instruments in total 200 Euro
-entertainment instruments for example drums and costumes (150 Euro per item) = 300 Euro in total
